Contestants for the Miss Ukraine title are equipping the children of IDPs from Donbass for school!

On the occasion of the Knowledge Day, on September 1, the country’s ten most beautiful young ladies performed an act of kindness. The candidates visited the large Rodikov family – internally displaced persons from Makeyevka.

This family has 5 biological children and 5 adopted ones – one large close-knit team headed by dad, Vladimir Rodikov, and mom, Diana Rodikova.  They left their hometown of Makeyevka on June 12, 2014, when the first DPR tanks drove through the town. After the year of wanderings, they now have their own house in the village of Gatnoye of Kyiv-Sviatoshynsiy district, the middle children attend the local school, and two oldest ones – Aleksandra and Bogdan – are college students now. The housefather tells about the children in the family, “two 4-year-olds, three 6-year-olds, two 9-year-olds, one 10-year-old, one 15-year-old and one 18-year-old”. This year, the triplet girls are going to start the first grade of the secondary school.

The candidates for Miss Ukraine 2015 title brought them all things necessary for school: uniform, embroidered shirts, bows, shoes and long socks, notebooks, pens, rulers and much more. Fifth-grade boys and girls received embroidered shirts, sport costumes and uniforms. In their turn, the friendly Rodikov family made three family specialty cakes and treated the young ladies to tea.

This was probably the only case when beauties, despite the soon-to-be Miss Ukraine contest final, which will take place on September 22, allowed themselves to enjoy a piece of cake each. The parents told the guests that their children do well at school, even better than back in Makeyevka. In Donbass, they went to a Russian-speaking school. Here, they enjoy learning Ukrainian. And they demonstrated that at the tea table: the future first-graders read verses and proudly recited all the stanzas of the Ukrainian anthem. The young ladies, in return, sang melodious Ukrainian songs to the Rodikov Family.

The war has divided everyone's life into «before and after.» Some put on helmets and went to the frontlines, while others took up defense and became a reliable support in the rear. We truly believe that all Ukrainian women should unite for victory. That is why the "Miss Ukraine" team is using the stage of international contests as a platform for support.
