«Miss Ukraine 2023» will be chosen by Ukrainians for the first time through online voting
The national contest
"Miss Ukraine" will be held this year despite the military aggression
against our country. The team of contestants who represent Ukraine in the Miss
World is extremely important, because it is another opportunity to draw more
attention to the war in our country. "This year, the winner from Ukraine
has a special mission: not only to represent our country in a dignified manner
at the contest, but also to become a symbol of courage, indomitability, female
strength and faith in the future," said Veronika Shchyptsova, head of the
Miss Ukraine contest committee.
Currently, the final stage of participants’ selection is underway. This year
for the first time there will be 15 of them instead of 25 as was the case in
previous years. The committee reviewed more than 2,000 questionnaires from
those willing to compete for the crown. Casting took place in the mode of in-person
and online interviews, because some potential participants were forced to flee
abroad. Among the selection criteria are not only beauty and compliance with
the standards of international competitions, but also personal nobility,
dignity, compliance with expectations from a representative of Ukraine in this
difficult time.
For the first time in the
history of the contest, the winner will be chosen not by a professional jury,
but by Ukrainian Internet users through online voting on the contest website.
"For security reasons, we decided not to hold a traditional show this
year. The contest will be held online, and all interested Ukrainians will act
as a jury. So, the girl who will represent our country this year at the Miss
World contest will be determined by a truly national choice," - emphasized
Veronika Shchiptsova. In the near future, the participants will be presented on
the contest website, as well as on the official pages of "Miss
Ukraine" in social networks, and the result of the online voting will be
announced.
The national contest "Miss Ukraine" has been held in Ukraine every
year since 1991. This is a unique project that has the exclusive right to
represent Ukraine at the Miss World, Miss Earth, and Miss International
