THE NOT QUITE COMMONPLACE MISS UKRAINE 2014 FINAL

Miss Ukraine | THE NOT QUITE COMMONPLACE MISS UKRAINE 2014 FINAL

Due to the complicated political situation in the country, Miss Ukraine National Committee conducted a contest in an extraordinary format, having refused from the traditional solemn show. 24 contestants were earlier chosen during selective stages in different cities and regions of Ukraine.

Grand shows that have always accompanied the selection of the number one beauty have been abandoned for a while. The Organizing Committee decided to marry beauty to usefulness, having done away with all unnecessary solemnity. On September 18, the contestants gather in the Kyiv restaurant Device Club to join a charity activity. The girls were offered to make apple and cinnamon pies themselves. The cooking process was made as easy as possible for the beauties. They placed apples in ready-baked forms. However, they did get to work with rolling pins: the girls rolled out dough and cut it into stripes, which then were placed on top of apples.

I love making cakes”,16-year old Beatrice Mindak said. "I hope that they will have a healing effect for our boys."

And indeed, after cooking was over, Ukraine’s most beautiful girls took their culinary creations to Kyiv military hospital, as a treat for ATO combatants. Curiously, the initial plan was to make vareniki, but hospital staff recommended to not do that, since vareniki is a short-life product.

After the charitable activity, Miss Ukraine Committee Chairman, Sergey Matiash, announced the names of winners chosen by the contest jury. Thus, the Miss Ukraine 2014 title was awarded to the 19-year-old Adriana Khasanshyn from Lvov.

The 1st Vice-Miss title was conferred upon Alina Markauskaite from Dnepropetrovsk, and Beatrice Mindak from Zakarpattia became the 2nd Vice-Miss. Miss International title was conferred upon Yana Ravlikovskaya from Mariupol.
